Václav Špála: Flowers

Although flower still lifes represent the most numerous segment of Václav Špála’s painting, they have not yet been the subject of a separate exhibition. Furthermore, the lessons of contemporary art open up the possibility of re-evaluating even those aspects of Špála’s flower still lifes that seemed problematic from a modernist perspective. The Kampa Museum will exhibit around 80 paintings from public and private collections, presenting a selection of Špála’s flowers from the 1920s to the 1940s. Curator: Jan Skřivánek
